A year ago we opened the doors of Tambre Alicante for the first time.
I remember those days very well. We had spent months making decisions, preparing spaces, building a team, defining processes and taking care of every detail so that everything would be ready. We had a project, new facilities and a great deal of enthusiasm for what was about to begin.
A year later, I look back and realise that what has truly mattered is everything that has happened since that opening.
Because a clinic can be opened on a specific date. Bringing it to life takes a little more time and a great deal of passion for what you do.
And that is precisely what has happened over these twelve months.
The first patients have arrived, along with the first consultations and treatments. We have accompanied very different stories, made decisions, celebrated good news and also stood close by when the path has not been easy. And, little by little, those new facilities have stopped being merely a space and have become a place full of people, conversations and experiences.
Tambre arrived in Alicante with almost half a century of experience in reproductive medicine. We were not starting from scratch. We brought with us a way of understanding reproductive medicine that dates back to 1978, based on science, specialisation and care that is very close to the patient. But we were also clear that Tambre Alicante needed to develop its own identity.
And that is something that cannot be fully planned. It is built by people.

I have seen it in a team that has grown and learnt together; in professionals who have taken on each new challenge as their own; in patients from Alicante, from other parts of Spain and from different countries who have decided to place their trust in us; and in all those small everyday moments that never appear in an annual report, but which end up defining who we are.
We have also experienced moments that, a year ago, were still to come. We have strengthened our international presence and recently taken a very important step with the agreement with the Royal Spanish Football Federation, which allows us to support its players and referees in understanding and caring for their reproductive health.
These are important milestones. But when I think about this first anniversary, I don’t think only of them. I also think about everything that happens every day.
A few days ago, for example, we swapped the clinic for San Juan Beach for a few hours. We got together to celebrate this first year by playing volleyball, laughing and enjoying ourselves away from our usual surroundings. It might seem like a small moment compared with everything experienced over these twelve months, but for me it is also part of this story.
Because a team is not built just by working together. It is also built by sharing, getting to know one another and enjoying the journey.
Looking back on this first year, I have remembered something important: opening a new centre is a project with a date marked on the calendar. There are deadlines, many decisions and an endless list of tasks that is eventually completed. Bringing a clinic to life is different. That never ends.
It happens every time someone walks through our doors and places their trust in us. Every time a professional listens, supports or shares their knowledge. Every time we learn something and manage to do it a little better.
That is why, when I look at the photographs from that opening and compare them with those from this first anniversary, I see much more than twelve months of difference. I see a space that we have filled with stories, a team that has grown over this time, and a project that is beginning to write its own chapter within Tambre’s almost 50 years.
A year ago we opened our doors. Since then, together, we have been bringing Tambre Alicante to life. And this is only just beginning.
